Even if not handing out awards, magazines have always had great things to say about the Rhino:

In a Spring 2008 UTV Magazine article comparing the Rhino to the Arctic Cat Prowler XTX700 H1 LE and the Polaris Ranger XP Limited Edition:
• “We weren’t surprised when we broke down our results and had the Yamaha Rhino 700 Sport Edition coming out on top for our trail comparison.”
• “The folks at Yamaha have a lot of confidence in the safety and reliability of the new Rhino 700 FI Automatic 4×4 ATV.”

Progressive Farmer said the following about the Rhino 700 FI in the February 2008 issue:
• “All these performance features paid off as my group of media folks tried our darnedest to give the machine a challenge it couldn’t handle. Despite a trail that included a rocky river, waste-deep mud holes, and boulder obstacles, the Rhino never failed to perform as promoted.”

Comments from a three-vehicle shootout – won by the Rhino 700 Sport – in the August 2008 issue of 4-Wheel ATV Action magazine:
• “Stock, it’s the slowest but best handling and most comfortable on the trail. It has the best suspension, comfort, brakes and 4WD/diff lock.”
• “As is, the RZR and Teryx have a few years of evolution ahead before they can be as effective in so many different conditions and disciplines [as the Rhino].”
• “Yamaha has the best EBS and excellent four-wheel braking, so it’s the most predictable on technical downhills.”
